How to Choose Flattering Sunglasses

Sunglasses are no longer just a practical device to protect your eyes from the sun and its often harmful effects. Nowadays, sunglasses are a fashion statement and a status symbol with people pining for the latest brands and styles. Sunglasses are a true accessory item and as such you will want to choose frame that suits you, looks good and enhances your appearance, whatever shaped face you have. There are several ways to do this.

If you have a 'square' face, try thin metals frames which will soften the angular look. For an 'oval' face, you have the luxury of being able to choose virtually any frame type so you can pick the one that you best like the look of. If you have a long, thin face then try larger frames in either triangular, round or wide rectangular shapes. For 'round' faces, avoid round frames as these can make your face look larger, instead go for rectangular frames instead. Choose lighter colors. If you have a 'diamond' shaped face then try frames in oval shapes. As a general rule of thumb, you should avoid frames that have a similar shape to your head.

For people with beards or other facial hair then you are better off with smaller frames, as the larger ones will further obscure your face, unless of course that is the desired effect!

As for frame sizes, people with smaller heads should stick with smaller frames and make sure they are no wider than the widest area of your face. If you have a larger head then go for larger frames as smaller frames can appear to squeeze your face.

In general, your eyes should always be in the center of the lenses. You should avoid large frames if your eyes are set close together. You should also ensure that your eyebrows are level with the top bar of the sunglasses.

Follow the general rules and pick out a pair of sunglasses that will not only complement but enhance your appearance.
